Soft Machine - Rare Vintage Vinyl
The Soft Machine's self-titled debut album, catalog number CPLP 4500, was released in December 1968 under ABC's Probe Records label in the United States. This album is notable for being the only one featuring Kevin Ayers as a member of the band.
The recording took place in April 1968 at the Record Plant Studios in New York City. The album showcases a blend of genres, including psychedelic rock, jazz rock, and elements characteristic of the Canterbury Scene.
This original LP features a gatefold cover with unique circular die-cut sleeve with a rotating wheel insert, displaying gears through which band members could be viewed—a design concept later echoed by Led Zeppelin III. The gatefold and back sleeve also included an uncensored image of a nude girl's backside.
This is a Rare and Collectible Album.
Vinyl in Near Mint Condition. Cover is Very Good + + (some very minor scuff and small hole punch). The wheel insert still rotates.
